Walsall Borough of Sanctuary celebrates Refugee Day

Walsall Borough 'City of Sanctuary' celebrated Refugee Day by bringing together new groups namely the Refugee and Immigration Centre Team and Abu Bakr Girls School, Walsall with Volunteers and families already linked with our Sanctuary group, at the new RMC Offices in Walsall.

Cllr Doug  James City of Sanctuary Chairman acted as host accompanied by Fahim Zazai from the Afghan Welfare Community Association.

The celebration encouraged involvement from young people and the exchange of gifts organised through the School pupils. It also allowed everyone to meet families and receive information about future City of Sanctuary Events.

Sabrina Ditta from Abu Bakr School received a copy of Brendan Cox book 'More In Common' in appreciation of the new links and work undertaken by the young people at the School on behalf of the Sanctuary project.

On 24th June in St.Pauls Square the City of Sanctuary volunteers will be running a stall to promote our work and hopefully encourage the enlisting of new Volunteers as part of Refugee Week.
